At home, River beats Carabobo
Eduardo Coudet’s team defeated the Venezuelan side 1-0 thanks to a fine goal from Sebastián Driussi, reaching four points in its CONMEBOL Sudamericana group.
After the draw against Blooming in Bolivia, River played its first match at the Mâs Monumental and picked up three key points to settle into the group. A quiet first half offered few chances, aside from two saves involving Juan Cruz Meza and a clear opportunity for Juanfer Quintero. River broke the deadlock after the break.
Kendry Páez made a strong run and Sebastián Driussi finished low to make it 1-0. River opened up the game and nearly doubled the lead, with Páez denied in a one-on-one and Tomás Galván striking the crossbar.
Next, River turns attention to Sunday’s Superclásico at the Mâs Monumental in the Apertura Tournament, with qualification to the next round already secured.
