Important win for River in Brazil
Lucas Martínez Quarta’s stoppage-time header sealed a 1-0 win over RB Bragantino in the CONMEBOL Sudamericana, putting Eduardo Coudet’s side top of Group H.
River endured an intense night but came away with three crucial points to stand alone at the top of the group. One of the standout performers was Santiago Beltrán, who made two spectacular saves in the first half to deny Isidro Pita and Lucas Barbosa. After the break, he kept out Sasha’s penalty low to his left.
Backed by Beltrán’s heroics, River created chances and found the winning goal in stoppage time: a fine cross from Lucas Silva on the right and a decisive header from Lucas Martínez Quarta made it 1-0, sealing the victory in Brazil. River now leads the group with seven points, followed by Carabobo on six.
Next up, River will host Atlético Tucumán on Sunday at the Mâs Monumental, before traveling to Venezuela next week to face Carabobo in the CONMEBOL Sudamericana.
