With goals from Facundo Colidio, Maximiliano Salas, and Miguel Borja, Marcelo Gallardo’s team won 3-1 at the Mâs Monumental in the opening match of the tournament.
With a solid performance and strong team play, River kicked off the Torneo Clausura on a high note. The match also marked the team's return to the Mâs Monumental, which was in full splendor as the fans and squad reunited.
Facundo Colidio opened the scoring with a piece of brilliance — a stunning right-footed strike that rocketed into the top left corner, leaving Juan Pablo Cozzani with no chance. The visitors drew level through Ronaldo Martínez, but before the end of the first half, Maxi Salas finished off a brilliant team move to celebrate his first goal wearing River’s iconic jersey.
River dominated the second half, had several chances to extend the lead, and sealed the win near the end thanks to a sublime pass from Gonzalo Martínez and a low finish from Miguel Borja. River Plate picked up its first three points and is gearing up for an away match against Instituto in Córdoba next weekend.
