River held to draw by Deportivo Riestra despite dominant display

Marcelo Gallardo’s team had clear chances to break the deadlock but couldn’t find the net on Matchday 10 of the Apertura tournament.
River dominated the game, showing attacking prowess and defensive strength, while the home team barely posed any threat throughout the 90 minutes. In the first half, River had clear-cut chances through Miguel Borja, Marcos Acuña, Maximiliano Meza, and Rodrigo Aliendro, but goalkeeper Ignacio Arce’s strong performance kept the score level.
After the break, River couldn’t maintain the intensity of the first half, but still found openings, especially through Mastantuono and attacking runs down the wings. Toward the end, Franco Armani came up big with a great save against Pedro Ramírez to keep his goal intact. On the next matchday, River will host Rosario Central, but first the team will face Ciudad de Bolívar this Wednesday in Santiago del Estero for the Copa Argentina.
