River thrashes 3-0 at the Mâs Monumental
Eduardo Coudet’s side enjoyed a great day at home, securing a 3-0 victory over Belgrano on Matchday 13 of the Apertura, thanks to a brace from Tomás Galván and a headed goal by Facundo Colidio.
Before the 15-minute mark, River created three clear chances to take the lead. First, Sebastián Driussi broke down the right and hit a cross-shot off the post that flashed across goal. Then, Lautaro Rivero struck a left-footed shot from the edge of the box but missed just wide. Shortly after, Driussi drove into the area, cut inside, and finished with the outside of his right foot, sending his effort narrowly off target.
Driussi, very active in attack, had another powerful shot saved by goalkeeper Thiago Cardozo. Belgrano’s first chance came from a free-kick header, but Santiago Beltrán made a sharp save. Around the 30-minute mark, Rivero again threatened from a set piece, though his attempt went over the bar.
Late in the first half, after a one-on-one chance by Driussi, Tomás Galván pounced on the rebound to score the deserved 1-0—his first goal with the club. After the break, River struck again: a good cross from the right by Juan Cruz Meza was met by a precise header from Facundo Colidio to make it 2-0 and put the home win on track. Near the end, Galván completed his brace with a right-footed shot across goal.
With this win, Chacho’s team remains near the top of the group with 23 points. Next weekend, River will visit Racing in Avellaneda, but first the team will make its CONMEBOL Sudamericana debut against Blooming in Bolivia on Wednesday.
