Keeping up momentum after last matchday's win, River stepped onto the field determined to assert its presence and take over the match against Estudiantes. With the Mâs Monumental stadium packed again, River started to threaten Estudiantes thanks to precise shots from Juan Quintero on several set pieces: he took a free kick and two corner kicks (one almost turned into an Olympic goal and the other, which could have been the first goal, was aimed at Lucas Beltran's head). Meanwhile, the team from La Plata had a chance with a free kick taken by Franco Zapiola that went high.

River dominated the first half: before the first goal, Agustin Palavecino had a chance with a right-footed shot. Then, off an exquisite pass from Nico De La Cruz, Miguel Borja ran up the field and struck a low shot, against Jeronimo Pourtau’s weak efforts, scoring the first goal. A few minutes later, Quintero made an amazing assist and River’s No. 9 struck a superb right-footed shot, setting the score at 2-0 and widening the lead. Before the end of the first half, Borja had another scoring chance and Quintero had his, striking a shot that went just wide of the rival goal.

Within the first minute of the second half, Pablo Solari collected a long pass, ran up to the goal, but got blocked when striking, and his right-footed shot was off-target. Following a clearance error, Manuel Castro struck a shot from outside the box, but Franco Armani made an excellent save. In the counterattack, Solari failed to collect a low cross from Andres Herrera on the right-hand side. Borja had an unbeatable chance to score the third goal, but failed to struck on-target off a pass from Palavecino, when facing the goal.

In the final stretch, Solari had the chance to celebrate his own goal, setting the score at 3-0 with a low shot. In the next play, Esequiel Barco scored an incredible fourth goal and Matias Suarez set the final score at 5-0. Thanks to this win, River now has 38 points and is on the right track to qualifying for next year's CONMEBOL Libertadores. River’s next match will be on Sunday against Patronato, in Entre Rios. The following two matches will take place at the Mâs Monumental stadium, against Platense and Rosario Central.
