¡RIVER, WINNER OF THE ARGENTINE SUPERCUP! El Millonario did not hide during the hard times: it won against Boca Juniors by 2-0 while giving it a proof of its character and added a new championship to its records.

The match started loaded with tension from both sides, but River marked its presence in the rival field from the beginning. However, it was difficult for River to generate dangerous situations near Agustín Rossi’s goal. Boca had the first two approximations. Franco Armani blocked easily a long shot by Pablo Pérez, and then he reacted fast to neutralize Carlos Tévez after a center shot by Cristian Pavón.
At River’s first clear approach after a good combination between Ignacio Fernandez and Gonzalo Martínez, Edwin Cardona committed a foul on Nacho, and Patricio Loustau awarded it with a penalty shot for River. Pity took charge of it and defined it elegantly, thus scoring the first goal for El Millonario.
Then, Gallardo’s team handled the match without problems and continued to push Boca, who did not reach River’s defense. The last plays of the first half were at the feet of Nacho Fernández, with a shot that got deflected, Pity Martínez, who blocked Rossi after Rodrigo Mora’s reaction, and the Uruguayan forward, with a free kick that was stopped by the rival goalkeeper.
During the second half, River held the advantage with a giant Armani. First, he deflected a kick by Pavón and then he reacted fast to avoid an own goal by Pratto. In addition, he was very confident to go outside the area and transmitted confidence to the team. El Millonario responded with a high shot by Pity and another one by Pratto that got deflected.
The explosion of the night in Mendoza came with a lethal play. Ignacio Scocco had just entered in the fild and cleared a corner shot. Nacho Fernández held an eternal run and passed the ball to Pity Martínez, who left a rival player standing and served it to Scocco, who defined it fast and scored the second goal.
El Millonario had a strong presence in Mendoza, gave Boca Juniors a lesson of character and added a new cup, a new championship. It was historical. Just like the eliminations in 2014 and 2015, this achievement will be remembered forever in the hearts of the fans.
