River wins 2-1 against Universidad de Chile Marcelo Gallardo’s team secured a well-deserved 2-1 victory over Universidad de Chile in Concepción, with goals from Manuel Lanzini and Miguel Borja.

River took control of the game early on and created a clear chance within the first minutes: Maxi Meza passed to Miguel Borja, who cut inside the box and struck the ball with his left foot. Goalkeeper Gabriel Castellón saved the shot and the rebound attempt from Facundo Colidio. Universidad de Chile responded with a wide shot from Nicolás Guerra.
River opened the scoring nine minutes in, as Borja set up Manuel Lanzini for a sharp left-footed finish at the near post. However, the Chilean team equalized through Israel Poblete, following a move down the left flank by Leandro Fernández, who was later sent off near the end of the first half.
After the break, River continued to dominate possession. Nacho Fernández came close to scoring with a header over the bar, after a cross from Santiago Simón on the right. Borja had a very clear chance with a header that just missed Castellón’s right post.
In another clear chance, Gonzalo Tapia almost netted his first goal for River, but the goalkeeper made a good low save to deny him. Shortly after, the Chilean forward had a similar opportunity but sent the ball just wide of the post.
River kept pressing for the win in the closing minutes. Tapia had another opportunity, as did Nacho Fernández. Finally, a brilliant combination between Nacho and Tapia allowed Borja to fire a powerful right-footed shot into the near post, sealing the 2-1 win for River.
