With Authority, River Defeated Boca Juniors in Mar del Plata Marcelo Gallardo’s team was superior and won the Superclásico by 2-0, with goals by Sebastián Driussi (penalty) and by Arturo Mina.

With an amazing setting at the José María Minella, the fans brought color to the stadium, and River Plate set the party on the field. At the only Superclásico of the summer, El Millonario was very superior and won a deserved victory at the seaside city.
During the first half, each team had its goal opportunities: River had a chance with a deviated kick by Sebastián Driussi, a pass by Camilo Mayada with a center shot that couldn’t find any teammate in the area, kicks from outside the area by Rodrigo Mora and Ignacio Fernández, and the most clear one: a header by the Uruguayan forward that Axel Werner sent to the corner.
On the other hand, Boca Juniors made Augusto Batalla nervous at the beginning of the game. Batalla became a giant at a one on one against Cristian Pavón, and was very confident in front of a kick by Ricardo Centurión. In this way, El Millonario ended the first half somewhat better, during which it could destabilize Boca on the right side, although it lacked precision to conclude the plays.
The second half belonged entirely to El Millonario. Nacho Fernández created the first goal opportunity with a one on one after an impeccable pass by Driussi, but Werner stopped it. Then, Gonzalo Martínez tried from outside the area and, later, River’s number 11, with a low kick to the left, converted a penalty that the referee awarded River with due a hand by Juan Manuel Insaurralde.
With River wining the game, the goal by Arturo Mina made its way. The Ecuadorian defense jumped higher than all of the players to head a corner kick from the right and stretched the difference with a cross header that Boca’s goalkeeper couldn’t stop.
After a harsh foul by Insaurralde to the young Exequiel Palacios and the uproar that followed, Néstor Pitana expelled Boca’s defense, Darío Benedetto and Driussi. After this episode, the game continued without much excitement, and El Millonario ended up celebrating a well-deserved victory.
